The Mathcruise academy started with just one core mission a decade ago – to remove fear of Maths from the minds of young kids. Online Abacus classes is our flagship course to help us achieve this objective in an effective way, since Abacus for kids is an age-old proven way to improve brain power in kids, in addition to enabling them to do superfast and accurate calculations. Let us talk about it in a little more depth below so we understand it better and are equipped to take the right decision for shaping the future of our kids.
How are Abacus Courses and Brain power related?
Abacus classes for kids rely heavily on brain development techniques, since the kids need to have a very strong focus and concentration to be successful in Abacus. Let us look at the key steps that a child needs to perform when solving any arithmetic calculation using Abacus, be it addition, subtraction, multiplication or division.
- The student has to listen to the question attentively, as spoken by the trainer
- Do the immediate processing of the question in the brain
- Do the immediate finger movement (to change the position of beads on physical Abacus tool, or on the imaginary tool if he is solving questions via visualization, means mentally)
- Be ready to listen to the next number
- Repeat the above steps with precision and accuracy for every calculation
You may look at this video here, or any of the videos listed on our web portal video gallery to see this amazing Abacus phenomenon where kids as young as 5 or 6 years are doing this magic with such ease. At first it would seem unbelievable to the naked eye, and which is why you would believe only if you see it for yourself. This amazing outcome is made possible because at the core of Abacus’ course is its unique teaching methodology to stimulate children’s right brain in addition to their left brain, enabling them to perform incredibly quick finger movements with both hands simultaneously, and this is the ultimate secret of Abacus.
What are the common brain development techniques for kids?
- All brain development techniques rely on brain stimulation exercises such as the following:
- doing different activities by both hands at the same time
- Visualization Games: Imagining scenarios or objects to build mental images.
- rotating both hands in reverse direction without faltering
- using your non-dominant hand (typically left hand for most people) for daily tasks
- incorporate rhythm and speed with any engaging activity like flashcards, magic cube or speed reading
If you notice the common theme in above activities, the focus is that both hands should be able to perform different actions with ease and with effectiveness, and which can technically happen only when the left brain controls the dominant hand and right brain controls the non-dominant hand.
Right brain activation through Abacus
Abacus directly uses the brain development techniques #1 and #2 as mentioned above to stimulate the right brain. Let us understand how.
- Abacus classes incorporates point#1 at its very core, which is doing different activities by both hands at the same time. In every Abacus session the trainer teaches the students to do the finger movement with both hands. Many students choose to use only one hand in the beginning but with gradual motivation by the trainer and with regular practice, they start to get more and more fluent and gain speed gradually.
- Abacus training for kids also incorporates point#2 of visualization very effectively. For every Abacus level, the new concepts are first taught on the physical Abacus tool for a few classes, and once the child masters that concept, then he is encouraged to leave the physical tool and solve those same questions by using a visualization process. During the visualization process the student just imagines and creates a picture of the Abacus tool in this mind, and updates that picture to represent a new position of beads for every calculation step.
Can Abacus activate the right brain at any age?
Modern science has also established that the right brain is dormant in most kids by default, and as per the maximum age until when the right brain can be activated is 15 years. Beyond the age of 15, the human mind becomes accustomed to processing things in a specific way, and it is extremely difficult to arouse a dormant brain. The best time to stimulate the right brain is during the child’s early development years, when they are learning new things every day and are most adaptable. As a result, we strongly encourage enrolling a child in an Abacus course as early as age five.

Does an Abacus course really help in improving brain power?
Absolutely YES.
As explained above, during the Abacus training the kids are taught to do the finger movement by both hands at the same time. This is based on the Abacus Finger Theory and can only be made possible when both the right and left brain are fully activated. Many parents are not aware that by default, humans only have the left brain activated which controls all the logical actions that we do, like walking, eating, driving etc. Right brain activation can be done only by specific and accurate brain development exercises, and Abacus is one such amazing technique to stimulate the right brain.
Does Mathcruise teach Mental Maths for kids
In our other courses like school maths, our teaching methodology ensures that the child is trained on problem solving approaches. We do not spoon feed them but give them support at every step to make them independent.
- Our key courses Abacus and Vedic Maths revolve around solving complex questions mentally, which ultimately leads to strong cognitive skills.
- As we saw above already in the demo videos, kids as young as 5-6 years solve complex arithmetic questions mentally, without using paper and a pen at all just via Abacus Visualization technique
Here are some examples of complex questions that Abacus trained kids can solve mentally

Few examples of complex questions that Vedic maths trained kids can easily solve mentally, and that too faster than traditional approach.

How does Mathcruise help students in areas other than Abacus?
Our students are our real assets, and we invest a lot of time and energy in them to enable their best potential. We not only focus on the core course for which they enrol with us (like Abacus classes, or Vedic Maths course, or Logical reasoning or school Maths) but ensures their overall grooming. Here are the key aspects other than academics on which we focus:
- Removing fear of Maths – This is the core vision of Mathcruise. We all must recognize this as one of the biggest issues that we need to address for our kids. Our trainers interact with kids to get to the root of why the kid is afraid of maths, and we make them so strong in arithmetic that numbers become their best friends.
- Strong communication skills – All our classes are live and interactive, and our focus remains on ensuring that the child is participating in class whether by asking questions or sharing his thought on any topic like his favorite pastime, or simply by explaining how did he solve a given question.
- Effective listening abilities –Abacus course mentors the child to attentively and effectively listen to questions, and the child develops this habit in his life as well so he ultimately becomes a good listener. And we all know that it is not easy to find people with good listening skills, so Abacus trained kids always hold this edge.
- Encourage them to participate in competitions – We regularly encourage the kids to participate in various competitions (maybe Abacus, or Vedic Maths or even other competitions inter or intra school) irrespective of the results. The main thing we must ensure is that kids are not afraid of participating, and then you will see that gradually they will do better and better with time. More than winning, the first step that holds the key is active participation. Wouldn’t you agree?
- Boosting self confidence – A child who does not have fear of maths and has strong communication skills and has a good hold on Maths, will undoubtedly be a super confident person. You can be rest assured of this, and this is our guarantee to the proud parents.
We sincerely hope that this post has provided you with valuable insights into how Mathcruise Online Abacus Classes in Delhi boost brain power and help students flourish in life outside of academics.
